Howard Yezerski Gallery is pleased to present Siddharth Choudhary's multifaceted works as part of his solo exhibition, THIS THAT and the other. Choudhary has led a nomadic life over the past decade having lived in Mumbai, Paris, and Hong Kong before arriving at his final port of call in New England in 2017. THIS THAT and the other connects diverse people, places, and things, across national, cultural, social, and ethnic borders. Choudhary has combined colloquial expressions of his native Mithila with digital technology, humor, theatrics, phantasm, and memories of his travels to create a non-hierarchical cross-cultural interactivity.
 
Choudhary is interested in new technologies and their ability to expand the possibilities of mark making in the twenty-first century. The works presented in THIS THAT and the other are created on a digital canvas of backlit LED screens using a stylus. Choudhary begins the drawing on an iPad and continues coloring it in Photoshop on a desktop computer attached to a graphics tablet. He utilizes the stylus as a digital pastel “brush” to create linear graphic marks as well as painterly effects. After a reiterative process of making several test prints, he makes a final print on a large format inkjet printer installed in his studio. As a result, these pigmented canvas prints look like paintings. The works presented in THIS THAT and the other are as much drawings as they are paintings, prints, and video.
